Lancashire MTB Routes

If the Lakes and the Dales are mobbed or you just fancy a change of scene, come and explore the quiet delights of Lancashire's off-road routes.

Lancashire is the land of the hidden gem. Prepare to discover tucked-away places concealed from the tourist’s eye. Places like Calder Vale, Abbeystead, Whitendale and Roeburndale. For natural beauty, they rank alongside many more famous places.

Access is not as simple as it can be in other areas. For too long, the big landowners kept the moors for their own shooting pursuits. Bit by bit, though, there are concessionary bridleways opening up, allowing for satisfyingly continuous stints off road.

If big climbs are your thing, you’ll find plenty of lung-bursting pleasure on hauling out of the Brennand and Whitendale valleys.  Into moorland cruising? Get yourself up on the Salter Road. Need a descent to rattle your teeth out? Buckle up for the plummet down Ouster Rake.
